Lilly Pulitzer Warehouse Sale

I had to make this posting in pink because of the annual Lilly Pulitzer warehouse sale!!! I've heard about this "amazing" sale for years but never found the time-frame or my fashion motivation enough to check out the sale. This year, I decided, after a hectic week at work, I would treat myself to some cheap Lilly sales.

I have to admit, I was quite underwhelmed. Excellent people watching (not to mention the amount of cattiness and "Oh my gods" ings) aside I waited about 40 mins on a disney-esque ride line. Once inside, I realized quickly that most of the sale clothes seemed created specifically for the sale with inferior fabrics. The "sale" also wasn't the amazing deal I thought it would be. Dresses were still on average $100 and most shirts and skirts $50 a pop. With the advent of sites like Rue LaLa and HauteLook (comment below for access) - Lilly sales are abundant and monthly. Not to mention a better deal than this.

What would have been worth it was scoring one of the coveted new scarfs. But by later in the day (on the first day mind you) they were long gone. I did get a chance to score some stationery and perfume and of course, my skills helped me snatch away a vintage Lilly dress in a genuinely fabulous make!!!

Bottom line: I would go for the experience. I might go next year. I would NEVER get a flight from some southern town and stay in a ratty Scanticon for 2 nights like some women did!

Top 10 Items You Must Have This Spring

Spring Cleaning?
A Top 10 List of Helpful Products/Tips

Add some paint!
-Since moving into a brand new house, my hubs and I have been working hard at putting our own personality into the home. Some great paint colors I’ve/my friends have come across: Silver Sage by Restoration Hardware, Balanced Beige by Sherwin Williams and Haystack by Benjamin Moore.

Vacuum Storage Bags
-My hubs and I didn’t always have breathing space – we lived in a tiny (I mean tiny) apt for years. Vacuum bags were the only savior in storing seasonal clothing!

Fresh Flowers
-A great way to pull any freshly cleaned room together!

Barkeeper’s Friend
-The staple cleaner your Mom and Grandmom always had on hand. This gentle cleaner effectively restores any bathtub to a shiny new appliance (also restores non-stick tub surfaces!)

Label Maker
-If you tend to be “Rubbermaid” tub happy when storing Christmas and winter items, a label maker is the best way to keep yourself organized and not be frantic when trying to break out those items next winter.

Seventh Generation Cleaning Products
-Being very sensitive to smell, I’ve been overcome by harsh cleaner fumes more than once! Using these products doesn’t make you feel as if you’ve lost more than your share of brain cells.

Solar Outdoor Deck Lighting
-A friend of mine suggested that I look into Solar string lights for my new backyard – how cool is this? Even cooler, you can get them cute and cheap at Ikea.

Add Some Reflection
-As my Mom says, “There should be a mirror in every room!” I don’t think you need to go that far but reflection certainly helps spread the sunshine throughout a room (especially near a window) – Why not? Sunburst mirrors are SO cute!

Pandora Account
-Who wants to clean in silence? Get yourself a free Pandora account at Pandora.com and stream your music through your smartphone, laptop or TV and dance the chores away!

Reusable Cloths
-Instead of using paper towels to clean with, dedicate a cloth to your windex, cloth for your countertop and cloth for your furniture – clean and then wash! Voila save some money and the planet.

What You Didn't Know About iTunes

Sorry blog readers, I was on hiatus for a little while if you hadn't noticed. I had the unfortunate task of cleaning up my credit. Yes, sadly, someone hacked into my itunes and almost wiped out my money!!! No worries, all is well in the world - my husband and I got the problem fixed (and our money back).

Learning from every catastrophe, I had to find the reason why some hackers got our info. The long and short, because my information was sitting in itunes like a sitting duck, a hungry hacker came and got it (yes, sadly Apple is not safe from Hackers). And if you have itunes, which I'm sure you do, yours is too! It's only a matter of time before you get an angry phone call from your husband asking you to return all the Coach bags you bought!

Removing your info from itunes via your iphone and prevent fraud (or, in my case, further fraud):
Go to
Settings>Store> and once you are in "store" click "sign out"

Removing your info from itunes (as taken from eHow.com, contributor Jason Artman)
Step1
Launch iTunes. Click "Store," then click "View My Account."
Step 2
Enter your password to log into the iTunes music store. This will bring you to the Apple account information screen.
Step 3
Click "Edit Payment Information."
Step 4
Click the radio button labeled "None," and then click "Done." Your credit card is now removed from iTunes.
Step 5
Confirm that your card has been removed by returning to the Apple account information screen. Under "Payment Information," it should say "No credit
Now, you don't have to deprive yourself of your favorite songs, a co-worker of mine had a great idea - BUY GIFTCARDS and use them! No personal info, VOILA!

Keep Calm and Carry On

I have to admit, when I saw Tori Spelling in my UsWeekly last year carrying a big lithograph of this quote, I thought it was cool. I won't ramble on about the importance of this message in this day in age blah blah blah... but I think it does have some obvious appropriateness. To give you all a back lesson on the meaning of this "fad" so you don't look like a cad wearing or carrying an item and not know it's significance.

Taken from wikipedia:

"Keep Calm and Carry On was a propaganda poster produced by the British government in 1939 during the beginning of World War II, but never used. It was rediscovered in 2000 and has been re-issued by a number of private sector companies, and used as the decorative theme for a range of other products."

Very nice. Now on a water bottle? I think that's taking the kitsch thing to a whole new level!!
