Keep Calm and Carry On

I have to admit, when I saw Tori Spelling in my UsWeekly last year carrying a big lithograph of this quote, I thought it was cool. I won't ramble on about the importance of this message in this day in age blah blah blah... but I think it does have some obvious appropriateness. To give you all a back lesson on the meaning of this "fad" so you don't look like a cad wearing or carrying an item and not know it's significance.

Taken from wikipedia:

"Keep Calm and Carry On was a propaganda poster produced by the British government in 1939 during the beginning of World War II, but never used. It was rediscovered in 2000 and has been re-issued by a number of private sector companies, and used as the decorative theme for a range of other products."

Very nice. Now on a water bottle? I think that's taking the kitsch thing to a whole new level!!

Discount Designer Home Furnishing!

I just found this site and am obsessed with it! Since the new tax credits started for homebuyers, I know a ton of people who have recently become new homeowners. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of choices out there for designer home fashion at a discount.

One Kings Lane, a sample sale site for home merchandise, is a phenomenal way to get the most decadent pieces for your home at a discount. The Jiti design pillows are brilliant and offered at such a steal ($100 decorative pillows for $39).

Even if you aren't furnishing a new pad, Springtime is the time to update your look! Nothing makes you feel more accomplished than sprucing up your apt, house, condo, etc.

These days we all need a discount! Contact me with your email and I will send you an invitation to the site!

Happy Monday!

Signature of Positivity

I was sitting on the Loop bus about 2 years ago and was more annoyed than usual at the person essentially sitting on top of me to my left. Her bag was especially crinkly and noisy and I thought to myself "geez, they are just passing anything off as leather these days!"

However, upon second glance, I realized that the hardware was of fabulous design and the bag in general had enormous appeal. Being a label watcher myself, I spied the name of the bag "Matt and Nat" and decided to log that away.

2 years later and bumping into this brand a few times more, I'm now obsessed. I'm on my second bag - I bought the Paper Plum from Rue La La (invite only shopping site) and a black one from TJ Maxx. They are so well made, reasonable, and have the cutest inspirational quotes on the inside of the bag itself.

Although I'm no vegan, I like the fact that "the lining of my bag is made out of 100% recycled plastic bottles - 17 to be exact." A little Karma never hurt anyone!
